Baby life insurance

Babies can be expensive. Especially medical coverage. Many employers provide coverage for the medical expenses of your baby. Check your human resource department. There are many state sponsored programs for mothers without coverage. The hospital will try and work with you.

They will even delay your bill many times while you apply. Some will even offer you a cash discount, but only if you have no insurance. There are some things you might be offered by the hospital that are not covered. Be sure and check! Many usual procedures might be covered if done in a doctor's office, but not while in the hospital. Again, check! If you are paying cash, be sure and ask about small items that you can purchase on the outside much cheaper than the hospital will charge you. Of course, if your insurance covers it all, enjoy the stay!

Adopted babies and children are automatically insured by your health insurance company, if your biological child would be covered. In other words, the law requires coverage extended to all children, natural or adopted.

Even if your baby is not not insured or shots are not covered, take advantage of the free shot clinics. Some insurance policies do not cover all shots or medications. Pharmacies also offer cash discounts.

Unfortunately, all items needed or prescribed by your doctor are not covered. Most often, if it is a needed item for the continued health of your baby, doctor's office's can bill with required codes to get it covered. But it is not for sure if it will actually be covered. Insurance companies have ways of appealing a decision.

In reality, baby insurance is not really baby insurance. It is for YOU in helping defray costs.

The Unthinkable. Yes, babies die. It is unfortunate. You may have misgivings about buying life insurance for your baby. But you need to thnk of it as insurance for you. Insurance against costs you will incur if your baby dies, funeral and cemetery. These are not cheap. Life insurance for babies is very cheap. The good thing is, if you start it early, the insurance can grow with your child all the way to adulthood. Think of the insurance as a gift for the future.

You need to read all the information you can about baby insurance. The only person you should trust is your insurance agent. Get all the material you can. He (or she) is an expert in insurance. Find a reputable agent. They will not try and sell you something you don't need.
